LIPOSUCTION AND LIPO SCULPTURE

Liposuction and lipo sculpture (along with breast augmentation) are among the most common surgical procedures. Under the proper conditions this procedure offers a better body shape with highly gratifying results for the patient. The best indication is the treatment of  fat deposits in specific areas of the body, such as the" tire tube" stomach or "saddlebag" thighs. As well as fat deposits in the arms and the "double" chin. This is NOT a weight loss treatment and not a substitute for other procedures, such as abdominoplasty (even though it does complement it). Liposuction is done using very thin suctioning tubes called canulas. The fat suctioned out may be re-deposited to mold or fill defects in the body or face, hence the module known as lipo-sculpture.

This group of procedures are generally done on an in and out basis ( the patient is able to go home within a few hours of the surgery). The type of anesthesia used depends on the area treated, and can be from local anesthesia to to general anesthesia. During the surgery solutions containing diverse medications are injected into the fat deposits to facilitate easy extraction of the fat and diminish blood loss (humid techniques or tumescent of liposuction). An attractive part of this surgery is that the incisions used are so small (approximately 1 cm long) that the final result, are scars that are barely visible.
After surgery the patient must use a special girdle during the first 4 to 6 weeks.  The resting time varies from 4 to 7 days depending on the areas treated, and physical exercise can be resumed approximately 2 weeks later.

Again it is important to highlight that tests done prior to surgery are mandatory, to check the health of the patient, for their safety as well as that of the surgeon.
